(((WHY?)))

RADIOPHONY : HAUNTED AIR is a call to think about the aesthetic issues of creative airwaves as a ghosted space occupying radio waves. We usually ignore that space even if it’s all around us. How dead air can be a wireless vehicle for the human psyche? Sound recording practice questions space and time perception, built on personal subjectivity, social schematics, and chemistry. Crossing fields of energy gives an opportunity to touch immateriality and invisibility. Listen to a space is not natural. We are used to see things, we can close our eyes, but we can’t close our ears. Permanently immerged into the sound of everything, our brain selects the noise. It’s interesting to learn how to listen : the inaudible becomes audible.
RADIOPHONY : HAUNTED AIR create a gap between live and dead air and will stimulate the magick but often forgotten radiophonic space.

Networked Art Forms and Tactical Magick Faerie Circuits (NAF:TMFC) is a durational event including symposia, exhibition, performances, workshops and social gatherings that will take place in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 31 May - 30 June 2013 at Contemporary Art Spaces Tasmania (CAST) and on the Internet.
NAF:TMFC brings together leading Australian and International artists and educators whose work responds to the emergent conditions of a networked world; a realm increasingly transmitted through fiber and code. Early-career Tasmanian artists have been invited to respond to the work and ideas generated through the project. Participants are encouraged to adopt a holistic approach to digital culture, using various aesthetic tools and means to explore systems that enable insightful experiences with our increasingly machine based and interconnected existence. NAF:TMFC has been developed by Hobart-based artist organisation, Miss Despoinas Critical Engineering Space in conjunction with CAST.
